When is the right time to audition?
May 1st, 2007, 9:40am

Dear Musicians,

Cruise lines like to plan ahead. They like to fill their open positions as early as they can so they don't end up in a situation where they need, say 5 trumpet players by tomorrow...
Some positions are booked 4-5 months ahead of time.

For musicians that are interested in auditioning, this means, audition early! All too often we get calls from people that want to head out in a hurry. The more time you give us to find you the job you want, the more likely it is that you'll get it.

This is even more important for bands and small ensembles. Cruise lines like to re-hire the bands that do well for them. This means that they have a rotation of bands that keep getting the jobs. In order to make it into this rotation, you'll have to be exactly what they are looking for and you'll have to wait for one of the spots in the rotation to open up.

Keep in mind you won't have to re-audition with us once you've been accepted, even if it takes a while for you to become available.

Hope this helps.
